Rachael has played the violin since the age of six and
was taught Greek and Irish folk tunes by her first violin teacher.
Then it got all serious and she trained hard for the East Sussex
County Youth Orchestra throughout her teenage years.
Rach met Kate in the summer of '97 having moved to the Cotswolds.
It soon became clear that she and Kate shared many interests including
eating, playing the violin, and eating. So when Rach discovered
that band practise was really an excellent excuse for chowing down
on food and wine, her place in the band was sealed.
When she started at the same University as Kate, the duo discovered
that busking was an excellent way to earn their beer money. Drinking
and eating is still an important practise factor nowadays, but the
drink of choice is now wine. With a good ear for picking up and
holding a tune, Rachael is provides the 'diddly bit' - the top end
melodies above the band's driving, crunchy, chordal style.
